About the Training Course

After introduction to the IMS Architecture, the course focuses on the technical details of the SIP protocol and how it is applied within the IMS. Basic IMS procedures (registration, session establishment) as well as services (Presence, Messaging, Push-to-Talk) are introduced and essential details are highlighted.

About the Lecturer

Georg MayerGeorg Mayer Senior Specialist, Nokia
Georg Mayer joined Nokia Terminal Software in November 2001. Before that he worked for seven years within Siemens Private and Mobile Telecommunication Networks divisions on ISDN, SIP and IMS related architecture, protocol standardisation and testing.
Since 2000 he has been attending the 3GPP IMS CN1 (stage 3) standardisation group, in which SIP and other IETF-based protocols are adopted for the usage within the IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS). Since 2003 he has also been responsible for SIP and IMS interoperability testing with other vendors.
He is currently working as a Senior Specialist at Nokia and is co-author of the book "The IMS. IP Multimedia Concepts and Services in the Mobile Domain".

Hisham KhartabilHisham Khartabil Customer Project Manager - Multimedia, Ericsson Australia
Hisham Khartabil is currently Customer Project Manager - Multimedia at Ericsson Australia. He previously worked as Vice President, Solution Development and Research, at Telio and was responsible for enhancing Telio's service and solution offering by researching and introducing new services, products and solutions. Hisham has many years of experience in VoIP and SIP related technologies having worked for Ericsson, Hotsip and finally for Nokia Mobile Phones as a SIP Senior Technology Specialist/Requirements Manager. He is the co-chair of the SIP for Instant Messaging and Presence Leveraging Extensions (SIMPLE) working group at the IETF and has contributed to many IETF standards related to SIP.
Hisham is the co-author of the book titled "The IMS: IP Multimedia Concepts and Services in the Mobile Domain".
